ANNOUNCEMENTS

We have had two great mini-reunions, and we are planning another for 2026.  This will be another Washington weekend, from Friday, September 25 through Sunday, September 27.   As in 2024, our base will be Capitol Hill, at the Capitol Hill Hotel across the street from Bill Eskridge and Don Patron’s home on C Street SE.   This year we have secured a room block at the hotel  (details below).

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

Friday, September 25

Friday afternoon -- Hotel check in is 3 pm

 Friday dinner, 5 pm.

We will have dinner at Bill and Don’s on Friday night.  We are expected to have some special guests.  More details will be available later, but please plan to arrive at Bill’s house by 5 pm.

 Saturday, September 26

Saturday morning: Mount Vernon visit, approx. 9:30 am to 12:30 pm

We will have a private tour of Mount Vernon, arranged by our classmate and esteemed George Washington scholar,  Dave Stewart.  For those staying at the Capitol Hill Hotel (and anyone else who wants a ride), we have reserved a small bus to take us to and from Mount Vernon

 Saturday afternoon: free

No planned events.  We will provide information about lunch options and places to visit.

Saturday evening dinner: 6 pm

We will have an informal cookout dinner, again at Bill and Don’s home,  featuring grill master Colin Walsh (Carolyn Williams’ husband.)  Those who attended the cookout in September 2024 will attest that this was a highlight!   Bill is inviting a well-known Washington legal expert to talk with us about current legal issues, of which there will no doubt be many.

Sunday, September 27

Sunday hotel check out:  noon.

You can check your bags with the hotel, or store them at Bill’s house across the street

Sunday morning:  Folger Library, 11 am.

The newly refurbished Folger Shakespeare Library is nearby on Capitol Hill, and we can arrange a group visit if there is interest.

HOTEL

  • We have arranged a room block at the Capitol Hill Hotel, with rates of $269 or $299/night (one or two beds) plus taxes and an “amenity fee” of $30 per room per night.  The price includes continental breakfast.  We have 15 rooms on hold right now.
  • To reserve a room, use this link:   48th Yale Law School Reunion Booking Link   You can also call the Sales Office directly at 202-448-2097 and request the group rate for the 48th Yale Law School Reunion.  Check in time is 3 pm; check out time is noon.  You can request an earlier check in time.
  • Right now, the cutoff date for making a room block reservation is August 26th, 2026.  But, if you think you want to stay here, please book early, for several reasons.  If the hotel starts to book up for our weekend, it can give us 48 hour notice that it will take back any rooms in the block that have not been reserved.  Any rooms reserved through the room block can be cancelled at no charge 48 hours prior to arrival, i.e., before 3 pm on Wednesday September 23.

EXPENSES

  • Dinners will be about $40 pp per meal; wine and beer will be provided by donors
  • Mt. Vernon private tour is $27 pp
  • Private bus for Mount Vernon trip from hotel will be about $25 pp depending on number of takers
  • Payment will be to our treasurer, Albert Feuer, in early September. Pat will collect for libations.

WHAT WE ARE ASKING OF YOU NOW

  • Please let us know if you are a definite yes, or a maybe. We don’t need firm commitments now, but this will help up plan.  We will need firm commitments by July.
  • As I noted above, if you are probably going to come, and want to stay at the Capitol Hill Hotel, please book soon.

Thank you in advance to Bill and Don for their generous hospitality and to the other classmates working to make this a fun and memorable weekend.  When you attend you can personally thank and congratulate Bill , who recently received the prestigious Scholarly Achievement Award from the Association of American Law Schools honoring a career of brilliant and impactful scholarship.

Those of us who have attended the previous mini-reunions know how wonderful our get-togethers have been.  We hope to see many of you in September.  Also, be on the lookout for announcement of some events.  We are planning one or more zoom calls for later this year.

…And a Belated Happy New Year to all.
