Instructions for First Time Visitors

Please read through these instructions. You'll find important information here that will maximize your experience using our site.

On this page you will find the following:

1. THE PURPOSE OF THIS WEBSITE

The alumni committee that planned our 45th Reunion heard one consistent message loud and clear.  Several of our classmates wanted to find better ways to stay connected in between Reunions. This site was created as part of the response to that desire.  It is a tool  to connect and re-connect with our classmates. Our goal is to create a virtual place for the Yale Law School Class of 1978 to connect with each other.  We hope it will be a place where you can reach out to your classmates, share interesting news and ideas and also stay current about events and activities your classmates or YLS are planning and which we hope you will attend.

Everything you need to know about setting up a profile to gain access to the rest of our page is on this page. If you have questions, please contact Carl Reisner at carl.reisner@gmail.com or Casey Ryan at casey.ryan@yale.edu.

2. PRIVACY NOTICE

All contact information (address, phone number, e-mail address) that you enter into this website will be kept confidential. The host of this web site, ClassCreator.com, is a locally-owned business. They claim to understand the importance of your privacy. They say your personal information will never be sold to other sites. It will not be shared or distributed.  We chose Class Creator for this web site because it provides a robust, flexible and inexpensive platform.  We considered other social media platforms as well as other alumini platforms.  We concluded after consulting with others knowledgeable about this matters that this platform best suited our needs.

PLEASE NOTE:  This site is not a web site hosted by Yale Law School or Yale University.  The Development staff at Yale Law School is assisting us with the creation and support for this web site.  The Development Staff is very happy to support this effort in the hope that this can be a prototype for other graduating classes of the Yale Law School to stay connected to the school and with each other.

Your contact information is private; your street address, e-mail address, and phone number cannot be seen by classmates unless you set your privacy options to permit it.   Each classmate has the ability to limit the visibility of his or her profile to only fellow classmates by clicking on the appropriate answer in the Profile Visibility section during profile setup. If you do not opt for privacy on this line your profile can be viewed by non members such as your friends or family, but unless you elect not to have your post visible to search engines when you set up your profile will be fully indexable by major search engines.

Finding your class web site Profile pages by searching Google or other major search engines:

If you are signed on to the site and restricted your profile to only fellow classmates, and then use a search engine to see if the privacy options above are working, it will appear they are NOT. This is only because you are signed into the site. Sign out and check again. You will see that none of your profile information is viewable by non members.

Emails may be shared within this site using the contact option at the top of each classmate's profile page (just look under the classmate's main photo in the upper left). This way you will be able to contact classmates without sharing your private email address, unless you choose to do so.

All class Email news sent from us to you via this web site: For those of you with spam blocking or email filtering capabilities, please add noreply@classcreator.net  and noreply @YaleLaw78.comto your email account as a safe sender in order to ensure you receive email communications from us.

Please note that if you do not want your name on this site it may be removed by contacting Carl Reisner at carl.reisner@gmail.com or Casey Ryan at casey.ryan@yale.edu. This will end all communications to you from the Yale Law School Class of 1978 through this site, unless you ask that special arrangements be made.

3. SETTING UP YOUR PROFILE

In order to access the pages that are password protected on this site, you must set up a profile by providing a minimum of your email address, and a password.

To set up your profile: locate the "Classmate Profiles" link and locate your name and click on it. Follow the prompts to create your profile.

Private information like your email address, home address, and phone numbers will not be visible to fellow classmates. We collect mailing addresses in the event that we need to contact you by snail mail or phone. Your information will never be given to other classmates without your permission.

When you create your profile make sure to scroll to the bottom and check the boxes that you wish.  This will permit you to opt out of birthday messages  which means you won't receive everyone else's birthda.y  Also it enables you to control others' access to your profile.

You may wish to add a current picture to your profile as a master photo. This photo will be displayed in various areas around the site. You can also upload an  additional "Now" photo, and a "Then" photo.

Updates: If you change your email address, snail mail address, or phone number, please update your Contact Info so we have up to date information. That way you'll always be in the know about what your classmates are up to!

Passwords:

Choosing a password: Clicking the "Remember Me" will allow you to bypass entering the password each time you visit, but eventually the "remember me" will fail (for instance when you get a new computer). Please make note of your password!

If you forget your password simply click on "forgot password". If you have several email accounts, and you don't remember the one you used to set-up your account, contact Carl Reisner or Casey Ryan . This could take a while so please be patient.

4. "MISSING" CLASSMATES

YLS provided  the names and email addresses of everyone in the Class of 1978 so you could be invited to join this website.  Classmates who have not joined this website by setting up their profiles are listed on the "Not Signed Up/Missing Emails" page.  If you do not join this website by setting up your profile you will still have limited access to this website--mostly you will be able to see the Home Page where we intend to post announceents of class events.  If you don't set up your profile you will not be able to communicate with classmates through this website and they won't be able to communicate with you. If you don't wish to communicate with classmates or receive communications from classmates or us through this website, simply don't sign up by creating a profile.  Your name will continue to be listed as a member of our law school class and you will continue to be mentioned on the "Not Signed Up/Missing Emails" page. If your don't wish to have your name listed at all on this website we can arrange that, just email Carl Reisner at Carl.Reisner@gmail.com or Casey Ryan at Casey.Ryan@yale.edu and we will delete all mention of you. If you elect not to sign up and would like your name continued to be listed on the page that lists members of our law school class but prefer to have your name deleted from the "Not Signed Up/Missing Emails" page we can arrange that too.  Just email Carl or Casey.

Also, we have no emails for people listed under Missing Emails on the "Not Signed UP" page -if you are in contact with them please let them know about this web site and  have them email Carl and Casey if they wish to be included.
